Where It All Began: #LiveChat
Origin Story • 1995-1997, DALnet Hackers, GalaxyNet, LiveNetIt was 1995 when Douglas first discovered the world of online communities through Alamak Chat, one of Singapore's pioneering chat platforms, followed by Microsoft Chat.
By 1997, the curiosity evolved into creation. Starting with ASCII art, Douglas quickly progressed to coding in the mIRC Scripting Language, pioneering three innovations that would define the early internet:
- ChatBots (automated conversational agents that could interact with users)
- TriggerBots (sophisticated systems with logic and algorithms for scheduled messages, keyword responses, and automated actions)
- Bouncers (allowing users to mask their IP and location while enabling faster file downloads in the 28.8-56kbps dial-up era)
